Common Questions Before a Tweed Enquiry

Buyer questions about tweed samples, custom colours, specification targets and commercial discussion.

Begin with the decision you need to make.

You can start a discussion before every specification is fixed. Keep what you know separate from where you need advice, and explain what the next sample should resolve.

Questions before the first sample round.

What is the minimum quantity?

Ask for the conditions of the specific style, colourway and development route. A general minimum is not a guarantee for every article or process.

Can a pattern be resized?

Treat resizing as a development question. Share a measured reference, the garment and the intended new scale; ask what changes are feasible and how they will be sampled.

Can I request custom colours?

Record colour roles and physical reference information separately. Discuss what can change in the actual cloth and how the new colourway will be assessed.

Do I need a composition before enquiring?

No. Describe garment, appearance and sample purpose, then ask for appropriate starting references. A material preference remains a target until confirmed.

What sample size should I request?

Explain the next decision. A small cutting may shortlist colour and feel; a full repeat or garment trial may need a larger format. Ask what is available.

Has generating a brief sent my enquiry?

No. The brief is generated locally. Copy or download it, open the communication application and send it yourself after checking the recipient.

Make a question easy to answer.

Scroll the table horizontally on small screens.

Topic Include Ask
Pattern Overall view and measured scale if known What is fixed and what can change?
Sample Decision and required review date Which format and conditions apply?
Quotation Quantity by colourway and specification status What does the quote include?

A useful initial enquiry.

  • Garment
  • Pattern and colour roles
  • Reference and rights to share
  • Estimated quantity
  • Next sample task
  • Open questions

Keep requested timing distinct from agreed timing.

State your desired sample decision and production dates. The supplier must assess the steps and dependencies before confirming a schedule. A field in the brief does not establish a production commitment.

Ask Mr Kcal about the individual project.
