Prepare a Tweed Programme for Production Discussion

Connect the approved tweed sample, specification, colourway record and commercial enquiry before bulk production.

Identify one current approval reference.

Record the exact sample identifier, version and date. Include which appearance, colour and construction decisions it represents. An enthusiastic colour comment is not a complete technical or commercial approval.

Resolve the specification.

Keep confirmed composition, weight, usable width, repeat and relevant performance requirements together. List tolerances or methods only when actually agreed by the responsible parties. Do not replace unknowns with precise-looking default values.

Separate quantity and commercial conditions.

Confirm total quantity and allocation by colourway, the actual quotation basis, sampling or development charges where relevant, and order conditions. Requested dates remain requests until the schedule and dependencies are agreed.

Record outstanding actions.

Before progressing, identify who needs to resolve each open question and which document or sample will close it. Preserve the approved reference so a new fabric revision cannot silently inherit an old approval.

A worksheet for the next decision.

Scroll the table horizontally on small screens.

Decision Record in the brief Resolve with evidence
Sample Identifier, version and date Retained physical reference
Specification Confirmed values and open points Agreed article record
Commercial Quantity, quote basis and schedule Actual agreed quotation and order terms
Approval What is approved and what is pending Named decision and documented evidence

Keep these points with the reference.

  • Current sample reference
  • Colourway approval record
  • Confirmed specification
  • Relevant assessment results
  • Quantity by colourway
  • Quotation and timing agreement
  • Open action owner

Solve the next buying problem.

What makes a production handoff incomplete?

An attractive sample alone does not identify the approved article, colourway, specification and outstanding requirements. Create a dated version record with the physical reference, accepted decisions and exceptions. Identify which documents and assessments relate to that article. Assign responsibility for every open point.

How do I prevent a revision from inheriting old approval?

List exactly what changed, such as yarn, colour, repeat, composition or finish. Ask the responsible teams which decisions require another review. Preserve the earlier approval but do not silently apply it to the revised cloth. Confirm the final version before agreeing commercial conditions.
